Stalker is a 1979 Soviet science fiction film directed by Andrei Tarkovsky with a screenplay written by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, loosely based on their 1972 novel Roadside Picnic.
A Stalker guides two clients through a mysterious and dangerous zone where a room grants their innermost desires. The film explores themes of faith, science, and human nature in a dystopian world.
