WHERE CINEMA MEETS THE FRONTIER

Together, we'll begin to define what an Idaho filmmaker truly is - not by geography, but by spirit.

Idaho has always had stories worth telling. This event is an invitation to stand with those who believe in the power of film to preserve who we are and to imagine who we might become—honoring Idahoans who have made a significant contribution to film or filmmaking, as well as non-Idahoans who have made significant strides in the advancement of the Idaho film industry.

All proceeds directly support the Idaho Film Society in pursuing our mission.

2026 Honorees

In our first year, we recognize five individuals whose work has both reflected and shaped Idaho.

Scott Glenn

With a career spanning over five decades, Glenn is known for iconic roles in “The White Lotus,” “The Right Stuff,” “The Silence of the Lambs,” “Training Day,” “The Bourne Ultimatum,” HBO’s “The Leftovers,” and Netflix’s “Daredevil.” A trusted collaborator of visionary directors including Jonathan Demme, Paul Greengrass, Oliver Stone, and Ed Zwick, Glenn has built a body of work defined by quiet intensity, moral authority, and a commanding on-screen presence. Whether portraying astronauts, agents, generals, or haunted men on the margins, his performances have anchored Academy Award-winning films and some of the most culturally defining television of the modern era. Glenn has long called Sun Valley home and remains a globally recognized star and a true treasure to Idaho.

Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award

Michael Hoffman

An acclaimed American filmmaker, writer, and producer raised in Payette, Idaho, and a Boise State University alumnus, Hoffman co-founded the Idaho Shakespeare Festival before becoming the university’s first Rhodes Scholar. While studying at Oriel College, Oxford, he founded the Oxford University Film Foundation and directed “Privileged” (1982), which marked the screen debut of Hugh Grant and launched a career spanning studio hits and prestige dramas including “Soapdish,” “One Fine Day,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” and “The Emperor’s Club.”

His film “Promised Land” was nominated for the Sundance Grand Jury Prize and garnered an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Meg Ryan. The period drama “Restoration,” starring Robert Downey Jr., won Academy Awards for Production Design and Costume Design, and “The Last Station” received five Independent Spirit Award nominations and earned Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations for Helen Mirren and Christopher Plummer, cementing Hoffman as one of Idaho’s most accomplished voices in international cinema. Most recently, Hoffman wrote and directed “American Classic,” a TV series set in the theater starring Kevin Kline and Laura Linney, currently streaming on MGM+ and Amazon Prim

Academy member and one of the most influential producers in independent cinema, Heather Rae produced the Oscar-nominated “Frozen River” and Sundance standouts including “Tallulah,” “Fancy Dance,” and “Trudell,” and spent seven years in a first-look deal with Amazon Studios producing “Outer Range” starring Josh Brolin. A Variety Producer to Watch and Independent Spirit Award Piaget Producers Award recipient, Rae has served on the Academy’s Branch Executive Committee and held longstanding leadership roles with the Sundance Institute as an executive, advisor, juror, and Artist Trustee. When we first imagined what the Idaho Film Society could become, we thought about the places that shape us- the mountains, the open roads, the outpost theaters where we first fell in love with movies. Idaho has always been a land of storytellers, but for too long, those stories have lived quietly, often unseen. The Idaho Film Hall of Fame was born out of the desire to change that, to honor those who built the foundation and to inspire those who will carry it forward.

Join us for the inaugural Idaho Film Hall of Fame, a night not just of celebration, but of purpose. We'll gather filmmakers, historians, audiences, and those who have given so much of themselves to the culture of this place. The evening will feature a red carpet walk, film segments celebrating Idaho’s cinematic legacy, and comedian Steve Byrne as master of ceremonies.
